Dr Seuss - seriously funny as well as highly educational

Theodor Seuss Geisel - better known to millions of his fans as Dr. Seuss - was born the son of a park superintendent in Springfield, Massachusetts, in 1904. After studying at Dartmouth College, New Hampshire, and later at Oxford University in England, he became a magazine humorist and cartoonist, and an advertising man. He soon turned his many talents to writing children's books, and his first book - And To Think That I Saw It On Mulberry Street - was published in 1937. His greatest claim to fame was the one and only The Cat in the Hat, published in 1957, the first of a hugely successful range of early learning books.

I cannot choose a favorite between Dr. Seuss books, they are all seriously funny and highly educational. The kids learned their letters from Dr. Seuss's ABC / Beginner Books They started trying new foods after reading Green Eggs and Ham. Dr. Seuss Hop on Pop is a great first book for a child to make rhyme associations, very entertaining for beginner readers as well as for the older brothers. Fox in Socks (Beginner Books) Hop on Pop is full of tongue twisters. The Cat in the Hat reputedly contains 220 unique words given by an educator to Seuss to rhyme as the essential words for a child to learn, and created the memorable absurdity of two children and a prankish cat.

Moreover, Dr Seuss's books are not only great tools for learning the alphabet, learning to read, increasing vocabulary, developing a sense of humor, learning to make rhymes and funny associations, improving speech and ability to pronounce difficult words. No, These books contain a lot more more:: timeless wisdom, positive messages, optimistic approach to life and it's difficulties. These messages will stay in the reader's mind for a lifetime, strengthening their resilience, sense of self worth and identity and helping them out of their most difficult life challenges:

Today you are yo, that is truer than true, there is no one alive that is youer than you'
Don't cry because it's over. Smile because it's happened
Why fit when you were born to stand out?
You'll miss the best things if you keep your eyes shut
You have brains in your head, you have feet in your shoes, You can stir yourself up , in any direction you choose
Be who you are and say what you mean because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind
From there to here from here to there, Funny things are everywhere
Step with care and great tact, and remember life is a Great Balancing Act

And don't forget to get out, kids and all and roam about through the rivers and woods, splash in puddles and collect berries. Be free, Live sustainable. Love the life.
